Knowing whether or not you’re going to be drug tested is one of the best ways a person can prepare for a job interview. Being ambushed with a drug test can end your hopes of getting the job. Naturally, if you’re someone who doesn’t do drugs then you have nothing to worry about.
Chick-fil-A Company Facts.
Chick-fil-A was founded 72 years ago in 1946. It was first called Dwarf House, but changed to Chick-fil-A in 1967. There are over two thousand Chick-fil-A restaurants all over the world with most of them located in the States.
All U.S. branches of Chick-fil-A are closed on Sundays. This is part of the founder’s (S. Truett Cathy) Southern Baptist religious beliefs.The restaurant is also closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You’ll find the same job opportunities at Chick-fil-A as you’ll find at any other fast food chain. You can apply to be part of the kitchen team, dining room host/hostess, cashier, or even branch manager. These are all great choices that don’t require much training. You’ll get the hang of your choice fairly quickly.
You also have the option of applying to be a team member at night or during the day according to what suits your schedule best. The multitude of options make Chick-fil-A a great place to work, especially for a summer job.
Chick-fil-A Drug Test Policy in 2023
In general, Chick-fil-A doesn’t have a pre-employment drug test policy. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule that we’ll discuss in a moment. So, for the overwhelming majority of branches you don’t need to worry about having to take a drug testing order to gain employment.
For the few branches that do require you to take a pre-employment drug test, you will be tested for THC, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, PCP, and any other illicit drug that you can think of. Having any of these substances in your urine will result in a positive test and eliminate your chances of getting the job.
What to Expect During Chick-fil-A Hiring Process.
Applying for a job at one of Chick-fil-A’s restaurants is an easy process. First of all you need to fill out a job application form online. A couple of days later, they should call you in for a group/open interview. If you don’t get a call, then go to the store and ask the manager. He will let you know if you have been shortlisted for the job and, if so, when you can come in for an interview.
If you pass the interview, you’ll be asked to shadow employees who work at the restaurant. Upon assessing your abilities, you’ll undergo a ‘one on one’ interview. This is usually with the branch manager.
This final interview completes the hiring process.You will receive an email within a few days telling you if you have been hired. If successful, you will be invited to report to the restaurant in order to complete your paperwork, receive a uniform, and start your orientation.
Does Chick-fil-A Do a Pre-employment Drug Test?
The clear and straight answer is “No, Chick-fil-A does not generally require a pre-employment drug test.” However, you could be unlucky enough to live in one of the two states listed below that do require potential employees to pass a drug test.
As far as we know there are only three states that require a pre-employment drug test. These are Texas, Florida and Arizona. People residing in either of these states who wish to be employed at Chick-fil-A should abstain from drugs for a few weeks before their interview in order to pass the test.
It is highly unlikely, but possible, that a branch located in a state other than Texas, Florida and Arizona may require a prospective employee to pass a drug test as part of the hiring process. So the best way to know for sure the branch at which you wish to work does not require a test is to ask someone who works, or used to work, in the branch if a test is required.
Does Chick-fil-A Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Tests?
Yes, just like almost every other employer out there, Chick-fil-A at any point in time. This is usually done when your supervisor suspects that you’re high on the job or if you’re involved in an accident at work.
It goes without saying that being employed without having to take a drug test is no excuse for you showing up for work high on drugs. Always keep a clear head at work so you don’t get into any trouble. A positive random drug test will most likely get you fired.
People don’t usually work at fast food chains long enough to be promoted to a managerial position. Anyway, managers are most often outside hires. Nonetheless, you can expect to be drug tested at Chick-fil-A if you’re in line for a promotion.
What Kind of Drug Test Does Chick-fil-A Use?
You will need to submit a urine sample as part of the hiring process if you live in Texas, Florida or Arizona are required to take a random drug test. The urine sample will be sent by the company to one of their contracted labs to be tested.
A positive urine sample will prevent you from getting the job if you’re in Texas, Florida or Arizona and will get you fired if you are already employed at Chick-fil-A.
How to Pass Urine Drug Test at Chick-fil-A?
If you are required to take a urine drug test, you should evaluate your THC exposure and go from there.
- If you are a ‘light’ or ‘moderate’ user and have enough time before your test, you might consider detoxing your body naturally through light aerobic exercise, visiting a sauna and maintaining a healthy diet.
However, if you vape ‘high grade’ marijuana or concentrates, enjoy your everyday edibles, and/or smoke at least 3-5 times a week, you might need from 35 to 90 days to completely cleanse your body naturally.

- If you still test positive on a home urine drug test after completing detox program, drinking a detox drink, or caught by surprise with your test, you might consider using synthetic urine. This may work for an unsupervised test. However, there is always the risk of being caught and facing penalties for such action.
If you’re living in any other state that Florida, Texas or Arizona you can rest ensured knowing you won’t be asked for a urine sample before getting hired at Chick-fil-A. You should still keep in mind however the possibility of being randomly tested if you’re involved in an accident at work.
