Does Disney Drug Test for Employment?

“Does Disney drug test for employment?” This is a question you should be asking yourself if you’re looking for a job at the happiest place on earth. Disney is a really popular place to work, especially if you live in Florida or California.

At Disney, you can get a long term job or something short term while you look for a more stable position elsewhere. Either way, at Disney you’re guaranteed to have fun while working.

A problem that recreational drug users often face is that they are still denied jobs because they use drugs. So it’s important to know whether or not Disney tests its employees for drugs; and if so, how frequently they test.

Therefore, I decided to research the subject in order to help you secure and maintain a job with Disney. You don’t want to miss out on a great job opportunity because you failed to prepare for an unanticipated drug test.

Disney Company Facts

Disney, otherwise known as the Walt Disney Company, is one of the world’s largest entertainment companies and is located in California. It was founded in October of 1923 by Walt and Roy O. Disney. The company originally started out creating animations; but rapidly moved on to making movies, television shows and eventually creating and managing theme parks throughout the world.

Disney is a company that makes billions of dollars each year and is involved in a multitude of different endeavors. It employs over 200,000 people worldwide, making Disney an attractive place to work.

At Disney, you’ll find that there are many different types of jobs for you to apply to in various fields. The company has jobs in film making, animation and, of course, jobs in its theme parks and resorts. At theme parks you can find jobs like food handling, logistics and ride operators. In animation you will likely be retained as an artist or graphics expert.

You could also potentially work in corporate headquarters in various departments such as HR, accounting, or marketing.

The research I conducted, however, focuses on jobs available in theme parks as they’re the most common and where people most often look for work.

Disney Drug Test Policy in 2023

Being the massive company that it is catering to the family and young folks, you can expect Disney to have a very strict no drug policy. The company can’t jeopardize its reputation by having employees show up for work under the influence of drugs and treating its customers badly.

Through my research, I found that Disney does test and mainly tests for marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, heroin, among other commonly popular drugs.

What to Expect During Disney Hiring Process

The hiring process at Disney can be a bit long and tedious, taking up to a month in some cases. First you need to submit an application, after which you’ll probably have a phone interview. If you pass the phone interview, you will be called in for an ‘in-person’ interview.

This 2nd interview is usually conducted by more than one person. However, the questions they ask aren’t too difficult to answer. After the 2nd interview you’ll know if you’re hired and when you should go in for orientation and training.

Does Disney Do Pre-Employment Drug Test?

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a straightforward answer to the question ‘does Disney do pre-employment drug testing?’ through my research.

What I do know is that Disney doesn’t drug test everyone before hiring them. Drug testing is reserved for select positions.

These positions are mainly ones that have to do with customer safety. For example, ride operators are known to be drug tested by Disney. It’s necessary to ensure that ride operators don’t use drugs because operating a ride while high can certainly lead to serious harm to its customers.

Disney’s official website states that only employees in select jobs are subjected to drug testing while most others aren’t. So you need to think about the job you’re applying for and ask yourself if it’s related to customer safety; because if it is, you’ll need to prepare yourself for taking a drug test.

Alternatively, you can just go and ask someone at Disney who has the same type of job for which you’re applying if they test for drugs for that particular type of job.

Does Disney Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Tests?

Yes, Disney has the right to randomly drug test its employees at any time. This point is confirmed in the company’s official website. They also say that they can drug test employees in specific circumstances. This probably refers to testing employees who are involved in work accidents or appear suspicious to supervisors and managers.

There’s not much information on drug testing employees before a promotion at Disney. Most people who work there don’t really get promoted often because there are so many different jobs and employees plus, people don’t work there long enough.

It’s safe to assume though, that if you are promoted you will have more job responsibilities and the company will keep a closer eye on you. So you are best to be prepared for a drug test – just in case.

Does Disney Do a Urine Drug Test?

Disney uses a urine drug test to screen applicants and test existing employees. The urine sample is sent to an independent lab for testing with the results sent back to Disney for appropriate action.

Can You Fail a Drug Test for Using Prescription Drugs?

No, you can’t fail a drug test if you’re only using prescription drugs. All you need to do is let your interviewer or manager know that you’re on prescription drugs that can potentially show up as positive on a urine drug test. The interviewer and company will keep this in mind when reviewing your drug test results.

You can also give them your doctor’s contact info so they can contact him or her. They can confirm with your doctor that one of the drugs your taking has the potential to show up as positive on a drug test. However, Disney is not allowed to ask what you’re taking, or why you’re taking it.

Our #1 Recommendation for Effective DetoxHelp you to pass your drug test

How to Pass Drug Test at Disney?

  1. If you are applying for a job which requires dealing with customer safety, you must be prepared to take a urine drug test. For other positions you most likely won’t be tested.

In order to increase your chances of passing a urine drug test, you should try to abstain from using marijuana for 5-7 days before your test if you are a light user, 10-12 days if you are a moderate user, and 35-90 days if you are a heavy user.

If you abstain from using marijuana following the above mentioned time frame, you should have no problem passing your drug test.

  1. If you are already employed there, you must be prepared to take a random drug test at any time. Failure to do so may cost you your job.

If you are a light to moderate user of marijuana, it would be smart it to have a detox drink like Mega Clean or Herbal Clean QCarbo32 handy. Such detox drinks should be taken only on the day of your drug test.

However, if you are a heavy use, such detox drinks won’t be effective enough for you to pass your test.

We have heard that in some cases where the urine drug tests were not supervised, some heavy users have resorted to using synthetic urine as a backup emergency plan. However, if you try this, there is always the risk of being caught and facing dire consequences, the least of which is termination of your contract.

Summery

Basically, Disney drug tests some people for pre-employment, but not everyone. If the job you’re applying for involves something risky, or is related to customer safety, then you will almost certainly be required to take a drug test.
