Does Burger King Drug Test for Pre-employment?

“Does Burger King drug test for pre-employment?” This is a very legitimate question considering it’s one of the largest fast food chains in the United States. It is also one of the major employers of new graduates, students looking for part time summer jobs, and others in-between jobs. So it’s only natural for all of these people to be wondering whether or not the fast food chain tests for drugs.

Burger King Company Facts.

The company was founded in Florida in 1953 and was known as Insta-Burger King. After some financial difficulties, it was purchased by new owners in 1954 and renamed “Burger King.” It has kept its world-renown name ever since despite the franchise name being sold multiple times.

You’ll find only a few fast food chains with a more widespread presence than Burger King. The franchise has over 15 thousand locations throughout the world.

You can apply for a variety of jobs at Burger King. Team members and delivery drivers are those who interact with guests and customers. Other higher ranking jobs include hourly shift coordinator, assistant manager, and restaurant general manager. Of course there are also the delivery drivers.

Burger King Drug Test Policy 2024

The general consensus is that Burger King does not test people before hiring. This applies especially to jobs like delivery driver and team member. If you’re applying for a non-managerial position such as these, then you probably won’t be tested. One notable exception is in the state of Florida where employees are in fact tested.

The rules change if you’re involved in an accident at work – or they suspect you’re high on the job. In such instances,  Burger King retains the right to test you for drugs and they will use this right  if you give them a reason.

Alternatively, if you’re applying for a managerial position, you will need to pass a drug test. The testing is in the form of urine samples that are sent to a lab. So, if you’re looking for a high ranking position, you should avoid to get ‘high’ for a while.

What to Expect during Burger King Hiring Process.

The hiring process is as simple as it can be. You can apply for a job either online or in person at the store.  However, to improve your chances of being hired, it’s recommended that you do it at the store. You simply go in and ask for a job application. The process is quick and application is easy to fill out.

After that,  you simply wait for them to call you for an interview. You might get called the same day if turnover is high and they urgently need  new-hires. However, it could take up to a week for them to call. You may want call them to check on your application if you haven’t heard back after several days.

If successful, you’ll then undergo your interview with a manager. The interview should be about 20 minutes. Often times that’s the end of the interviewing process. Rarely you might have a 2nd interview with a different manager. They’ll then tell you whether or not you got the job.

Like we said, you might get the job the same day, or latest, a few days later. However, if you’re applying for a managerial position, you’ll need to pass a drug test and a background check before getting the job.

Does Burger King Do Drug Testing?

The answer is NO for any low ranking position, unless you’re applying in Florida. On the other hand if you’re applying for a managerial position, you will be drug tested. You’ll need to pass the test in order to get the job.

Being a low ranking employee doesn’t mean you can do drugs whenever you want though. If you’re involved in an accident, or your manager suspects you being high on the job, Burger King will ask you to take a drug test. Failing the test will most likely get you fired.

Word to the wise is ‘stay off drugs while you are on the job and if you’re planning to apply for a job as a manager’. The application process is pretty easy and straightforward as was previously mentioned. So it would be a shame to waste a job opportunity just because you failed a drug test.

Does Burger King Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Tests?

Yes. In some  branches Burger King does random drug tests for no apparent cause. You could also be required to undergo a drug test if your manager suspects you’re high as already mentioned.

Pre-promotional drug tests are also done. It’s similar to those required for people applying for managerial positions. So, if a promotion looks possible you might want to stay off drugs in order to pass the test to get the promotion.

What Kind of Drug Test Does Burger King Use?

Burger King utilizes unsupervised urine drug tests, which are then sent to an outside lab for testing. These unsupervised tests are pretty easy to pass compared to supervised drug tests.

How to Pass Urine Drug Test at Burger King?

If you are requested to take a urine drug test, there are three proven effective approaches that will increase your chances of passing the test.

  1. If you have enough time until your test, and don’t smoke much, you might try detoxing your body naturally. But, if you smoke every day or vape and consume edibles, you will need from 35 to 90 days to cleanse your body properly.
  2. A not cheap, but effective approach, is using a whole body detox program like the Toxin Rid program, or taking a detox drink like Mega Clean or XXTRA Clean, to cleanse your body from all unwanted toxins, including THC.

So far, 10, 5 and 3 Day Toxin Rid Detox Programs are the most popular and effective detox programs on the market.

If you don’t have enough time to complete a Toxin Rid program before your test, you might consider using a detox drink like Mega Clean  or Ready Clean on your drug test day.

This approach is effective for a ‘light’ or ‘moderate’ user. Unfortunately, if you are a ‘heavy’ user, such drinks decrease your chances of passing the test to less than 50%.

Don’t forget checking your THC levels with a home urine drug test before you take your test. This helps you find out the outcome of your urine test.

  1. If you still test positive on a home urine drug test after completing detox program, drinking a detox drink, or caught by surprise with your test, you might consider using synthetic urine. This may work for an unsupervised test. However, there is always the risk of being caught and facing penalties for such action.
