Ace Hardware won’t tolerate any drug use by their employees while at work in order to maintain their reputation of being able to serve their customers with efficiency. Customer complaints about any employee seemingly being high on the job won’t be taken lightly.
If you’re to be tested for drugs while working at Ace Hardware, you can expect to be tested for marijuana, benzodiazepines, methamphetamines, barbiturates, opioids, cocaine, and many others.

Does Ace Hardware Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Tests?
Ace Hardware doesn’t usually carry out random unannounced drug tests. Nor do they carry out scheduled drug tests on their employees. They’ll only drug test you if you’re involved in a work related accident.
Those who are involved in a work related accident are usually tested within 24 hours of the accident. In addition, if your manager has any reason to suspect that you’re high on the job, a drug test might also be required.
It’s not clear whether or not Ace Hardware drug tests before granting a promotion. It usually depends on whether or not that store also requires a drug test for pre-employment.
A store that drug tests an applicant for employment will more likely test as a prerequisite for promotion. Again, you can ask people who work there if you must pass a drug test in order to be promoted to get a better idea of the local store’s testing policies.
Either way, if a random or post-accident drug test comes back as positive, you are going to be in trouble as Ace Hardware doesn’t tolerate drug use of any kind. Failing to pass a pre-promotion drug test can have severe consequences, such as contract termination.
What kind of Drug Test Does Ace Hardware Use?
Ace Hardware uses a urine drug test to screen their job applicants and employees. You’ll be required to urinate into a cup and hand it to them for testing. They will then pass the sample on to a a lab. The lab will analyze your urine and send the results back to Ace Hardware.
Can You Fail Your Drug Test if You Use Prescription Drugs?
You can’t fail a drug test for being on prescription drugs. Yes, it may come back as positive, but that won’t affect whether you get the job or not. The important thing is to tell the manager or interviewer in advance that you’re on a prescription drugs that may show up as positive on a drug test.
Giving them your doctor’s contact info is also a good idea. They can call him or her to confirm that you’re on prescription. Nonetheless, neither you nor your doctor is required to explain why you’re on prescription drugs or what type they are.
How to Pass Drug Test at Ace Hardware?
If you find out that you have to take a urine drug test at Ace Hardware, knowing in advance these facts will help your odds of passing.
The facts are:
- If you are a light marijuana user, THC can be detected in your urine for up to 4-6 days since last use.
- If you are a moderate user– for up to 10-12 days.
- If you are a heavy use – for up to 35-90 days.
If you don’t use marijuana during the above mentioned time frames, you have a good chance in passing your drug test.
