Does Bed Bath and Beyond Drug Test for Employment?

Does Bed Bath and Beyond drug test for employment? This is a question I receive often from many of my readers. Bed Bath and Beyond is one of the most well-known retail stores in North America. There are many branches across the United States so it makes sense that many people look for a job there.

People who use drugs recreationally often worry about their chances of landing a great job. Most companies and employers like to drug test applicants, which can make it hard for recreational drug users to get a job, even if they’re highly qualified.

That’s why I decided to do some research to find out whether or not Bed Bath and Beyond drug tests applicants before hiring them.

Bed Bath and Beyond Drug Test Policy in 2023

Bed Bath and Beyond is a major company that has a reputation to uphold. Don’t expect them to be okay with employees showing up for work under the influence of drugs. Customer complaints aren’t wanted by any company. Bed Bath and Beyond is no exception.

When working at Bed Bath and Beyond you are expected to show up for work sober. If you’re  drug tested for any reason, you can expect to be tested for marijuana, methamphetamines, opioids, cocaine, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and many others.

What to Expect During Bed Bath and Beyond Hiring Process

The hiring process at Bed Bath and Beyond is not complicated. You first need to submit an application online or at the store where you want to work. Then you only need wait for them to get back in touch with you for an interview. Within a week or so they should give you a call to come in for an interview.

If you pass the interview, which isn’t very hard, you’ll be able to start working shortly thereafter. The entire process usually takes only from a few days to 2 weeks – depending on how fast they’re looking to hire.

Does Bath and Body Requires a Drug Test?

Fortunately, Bed Bath and Beyond does not drug test before hiring.

What worries many recreational drug users when looking for a job is whether or not their prospective employer  drug tests for pre-employment.

Being ambushed by a surprise drug test can make your chances of being hired extremely low. That’s why it’s always good to know in advance if you will be tested or not. If the chances of your being tested are greater than zero, you can  prepare for the test by abstention or other methods.

Even though Bath and Body doesn’t require to pass a drug test, this doesn’t mean that you should show up for your interview high as your interviewer will probably note your condition and exclude you from the hiring process.

Does Bed Bath and Beyond Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Tests?

If you succeed in getting a job at Bed Bath and Beyond, it’ll be in your contract that they can require you to take a drug test whenever they see fit. However, the company isn’t known for performing random drug tests or screens indiscriminately. You’ll likely only to be asked to take a drug test if you’re involved in a work accident or show up for work high as a kite.

As for being drug tested as a prerequisite for promotion, this issue isn’t so clear. If you’re up for a promotion and things are going great at work, you might want to abstain from drugs for a couple of weeks to ensure that you pass a surprise drug test.

Failing to pass a drug test before a promotion can result in your firing, not just keep you from being promoted.

What Kind of Drug Test Does Bed Bath and Beyond Use?

Bed Bath and Beyond doesn’t commonly drug test, but the company relies on a urine drug test when it does. You’ll need to urinate in a cup and they’ll send it to a lab for analysis. Once they have the results from the lab, they’ll decide on how to proceed.

While the company doesn’t regularly drug test employees, if a test is prompted, failing it can have serious consequences.

Can You Fail Your Drug Test for Using Prescription Drugs?

You can’t fail a drug test if you’re on prescription drugs. Yes, the result will show up as positive, but they can’t exclude you for it. Just let them know beforehand that you’re on prescription drugs that may show up  positive for a urine drug test. If you want, you can give them your doctor’s name and contact info so they can confirm with him or her.

Neither you nor your doctor should tell them what you’re taking or why you’re taking it. All they need to know is that you’re on prescription drugs that can show up positive on a drug screen.

How to Pass Drug Test at Bed Bath and Beyond?

If for any reason you are required to take a urine drug test at Bed Bath and Beyond, you should try to follow the following guidance:

  1. If you are a light marijuana user, you should abstain from using the drug for at least 4-6 days before your test, moderate user– for up to 10-12 days, and for 35-90 days if you are a heavy user.

If you don’t use marijuana during the above mentioned time frames, you have a high chance in passing your drug test.

  1. If you don’t have enough time to detox naturally before your test, on the drug test day you might consider drinking a detox drink like Mega Clean or Herbal Clean QCarbo20. Such detox drinks are most effective for the light and moderate users.

For heavy uses such an approach likely won’t work because high THC levels accumulated in the fat body cells and won’t respond in the short time frame required to pass the test.
