Does 7-Eleven Drug Test for Employment?

Does 7-Eleven drug test for employment? This is an important question that recreational drug users should be asking if they are seeking employment at the convenience store chain.

Because 7-Eleven offers such great employment opportunities to semi-skilled workers in the states, I’ve undertaken extensive research on the company’s hiring process regarding the question of whether or not they drug tests employees as part of the hiring process.

It’s a lot harder for recreational drug users to get jobs because the use of drug is often frowned upon by almost all companies. Therefore, it’s essential that a job seeker finds out if a company drug tests an applicant as part of the hiring process before applying for a job there. If so’ they can prepare to pass the drug test beforehand.

7-Eleven Company Facts

7-Eleven is a Japanese owned international chain of convenience stores, with American headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The chain was founded in 1927 and has operated under different names throughout its long history. Despite the name changes, the company’s quality of product and service has remained consistently high. There are currently over 50,000 employees working at 7-Eleven.

There are almost 70,000 convenience chain locations throughout the states as well. So it’s convenient place to work that’s near to home for most people in America.

At 7-Eleven you can apply for a variety of jobs. You can work in restocking, as a cashier, or branch manager. If you wish to get paid more and have the experience and education for it then you can always apply to a job at headquarters in one of many departments like marketing, sales, accounting, or human resource.

7-Eleven is a great place to work with lots of branches. The variety of jobs also makes it suitable for people from different educational backgrounds and those with different types of education.

7-Eleven Drug Test Policy in 2024

7-Eleven has a strict no drug policy. Under no circumstance will you be allowed to show up for work under the influence or to do drugs on the job. When you get hired at 7-Eleven, it will be part of your contract that 7-Eleven can randomly drug test you whenever they see fit. Failing to pass the drug test will lead to serious consequences, including termination of your contract.

You can expect to be drug tested for the usual suspects: marijuana, methamphetamines, opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and others.

What to Expect During 7-Eleven Hiring Process?

It doesn’t take long at all to get hired at 7-Eleven. Most people were hired in under a week. While for others it took about 10 days. Once your background check comes back clear, you’ll probably be able to start work straightaway. Some say they were required to take a mathematics test. But, even if have to, the test is easy and shouldn’t be hard to pass.

Does 7-Eleven Drug Test for Employment?

Luckily for recreational drug users, 7-Eleven does not do a pre-employment drug test.

So you don’t have to do go through additional preparations with respect to passing a drug test in order to be hired at 7-Eleven. This is good news for recreational drug users as the hiring process only takes a few days from start to finish.

This means that you might be called in for an interview very shortly after submitting your job application. This won’t give you enough time to rid your body of drugs and toxins in order to pass such a test.

You could easily ruin your chances of being hired however, if you show up to your job interview under the influence of drugs. This will give the impression that you’re not reliable and they will probably turn down your application.

So not having to undergo a drug test as part of the hiring process is not an excuse to show up high for your job interview. You should remain sober and prepare well in order to make a good first impression.

Does 7-Eleven Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Test?

Your contract at 7-Eleven will state that the company is allowed to drug test you randomly whenever they want. A lot of former and existing employees at 7-Eleven report that they have been randomly drug tested. This is a good reason to try and abstain from drugs as much as possible once you have been hired.

If you’re involved in an accident at work, then it’ll likely be required to undergo a drug test. Accidents at work, especially major ones, raise the suspicion that the employee involved was high on the job.

I didn’t find a lot of information on whether or not 7-Eleven does a pre-promotional drug test. Anyhow, since there’s a chance of having to undergo a random drug test, you should try and avoid drugs at any time. As a result, drug testing before a promotion shouldn’t be a worry for you.

What Kind of Drug Test Does 7-Eleven Use?

Despite the right to administer a drug test at any time, 7-Eleven doesn’t often do so. But on the off chance that it does, or if you’re involved in a work related accident, you’ll be tested using a urine drug test. You’ll be asked to urinate in a cup and give them the  sample. They will send the sample to a contracted lab for testing. Once the lab analyzes your urine, they’ll send the results back to 7-Eleven.

Can You Fail Your Drug Test if You Use Prescription Drugs?

No, it’s not possible for you to fail a drug test at 7-Eleven if you use prescription drugs that show up positive on a urine drug screen. While submitting your urine sample, let them know that you’re on a prescription that might show up positive on a drug test.

You may also give them the name and contact info of your doctor so they can confirm with him or her that you’re on a prescription. They’re not allowed to ask you or your doctor what you’re taking or why you’re taking it. So don’t feel obliged to provide them with that information.

How to Pass Drug Test at 7-Eleven?

As stated earlier, if you are applying for a job at 7-Eleven, it is not necessary to prepare for a urine drug test as part of the interview process. However, if you are already employed there, you must be prepared for a random drug test at any time. Failure to do so, may cost you your job.

1.If you are a light to moderate user of marijuana, it is a good idea to have a detox drink like XXTRA Clean or Herbal Clean QCarbo32 handy. Such detox drinks should be taken only on the day of your drug test. Don’t waste any potential value that these drinks may have by taking them the day before your test.

2.However, if you are a heavy user and smoke high grade marijuana several times a week, a detox drink won’t be helpful enough to drop your THC levels below the cutoff level.  You will first need to abstain from drugs for at least 30-50 days before your test.

We have heard that in some cases where the urine drug tests were not supervised, some heavy users have resorted to using synthetic urine as a backup emergency plan. However, if you try this, there is always the risk of being caught and facing dire consequences, the least of which is termination of your contract.

Summery

In summary, 7-Eleven does not drug test for pre-employment. However, they do carry out random drug tests and invariably test if an employee is involved in a work accident.

So it’s easier for a recreational drug user to get a job at 7-Eleven than at some places. But regardless, it is best to abstain from drugs once hired hired at 7-Eleven because a positive random drug test will most likely cost you your job.
