Hilton Hotel Drug Test Policy in 2024
Hilton Hotels has a strict ‘no drug’ policy. However, there are differences as to how each hotel and resort interprets and applies this policy. Generally speaking, however, if you’re high on the job or fail to pass a random drug test while working at any Hilton Hotels establishment, you can expect to be fired.
Hilton Hotels won’t jeopardize its pristine reputation by keeping any employee who get high on the job at the hotel. If you’re asked to take a drug test, you can expect to be tested for marijuana, methamphetamines, cocaine, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and any other prohibited substance you can think of.
What to Expect During Hilton Hotel Hiring Process?
The Hilton hiring process isn’t too complicated. You can find a job that interests you on their website and apply for it in person. You should get a call inviting you to come in for an interview within a week from submitting your application. If you don’t receive a call for an interview by the end of the week, you should call them and ask if they have received your application.
You can expect to undergo from 1 to 3 interviews – depending on the job you applying for and hotel you’re applying at. After the interview process, you’ll get a call telling you if you have been hired or not. In general it takes about 1-2 weeks to complete the interview and hiring process.
Does Hilton Hotels and Resorts Drug Test?
Unfortunately, despite extensive research, I was unable to find a single definitive answer to this question. The general consensus, however, was no! Hilton Hotels doesn’t normally drug test during the hiring process.
Although in some states, like New York and Illinois, you might need to take and pass a drug test as a perquisite for employment. This even applies to those applying for regular low-risk jobs.
If you’re applying for a managerial position or a job in human resources, then you’ll almost definitely be expected to take and pass a drug test.
In order to know for sure, we recommend you ask people who already work at Hilton Hotels if they had to take a drug test as part of their employment process. It appears that there’s no prerequisite for drug testing in Florida, Arizona, and Virginia. While, as mentioned above, New York and Illinois branches usually require you to pass a test before hiring.
Like we said, the best and safest strategy is to ask people who are already employed there.
Does Hilton Hotels Do Random and Pre-Promotional Drug Test?
Yes, we know for sure that Hilton Hotels retain the right to drug test you randomly and before a promotion. If you’re involved in a work related accident, or your manager suspects you might be high on your shift, you’ll be asked to submit a sample for drug testing. If you’re up for a promotion, you’re most likely to be tested as well.
What Kind of Drug Test Does Hilton Hotel Use?
Hilton mostly relies on urine drug testing to test existing employees and prospective employees before hiring in certain branches. Through my research I found that some employees were required to take a saliva rather than urine drug test. But this appeared to be the exception rather than the rule and very rare at that, with the majority of hotels relying on urine samples.
Can You Fail Your Drug Test if You Use Prescription Drugs?
No, there’s no way you can fail a drug test if you’re on prescription drugs. Just make sure to let Hilton Hotels know beforehand that you’re on prescription drugs. You should even give them your doctor’s contact information so they can confirm with him or her that you really are on a prescription.
They’re not allowed to ask what you’re taking or why you’re taking it, all they need to know is that you’re on drugs that can show up positive on a drug screen.
How to Pass a Drug Test at Hilton Hotel?
Potentially you might be facing two types of drug tests: 1) saliva drug test and 2) urine drug test.
- Saliva drug test is the easiest test to pass as you need only to abstain from marijuana for at least 48 hours beforehand, thoroughly brush your teeth and gums properly and use a strong mouthwash like Listerine before the test.
If you are caught by surprise, or cannot stop using marijuana for at least 48 hours, you should have a specially designed mouth detox product handy.
- As urine drug test is more challenging drug test to pass, you need to consider the following essential facts:
- If you are a heavy user, you might test positive for THC from 35 up to 90 days from your last use. So, in order to increase your odds of passing the test, you either need to abstain from marijuana for a prolonged period of time or complete a whole body detox program.
- If you are moderate or light user, you need to refrain from drugs from 4 to 12 days before your test. If you would like to significantly speed up your detoxification process, you might consider using a whole body detox program like the Toxin Rid program.
If you don’t have enough time to complete a Toxin Rid program, on your drug test day you may consider using a detox drink like Mega Clean or XXTRA Clean.
We have seen in emergency situations where the drug test is unsupervised some users trying to use synthetic urine. However, there is always the risk of being caught and facing severe penalties for such action.
Summary
Hilton Hotels is a great place to work. The environment is great and you can gain lots of experience working there. Just make sure to ask the people who work there about the possibility of drug testing since it seems that there are variations between different locations.
